What's more fun than dining al fresco? Picking your own garnish right from the center of the table! We've had an outdoor table with a tile top for several years, we got it at Target but I've seen this style all over, maybe you've got a similar one? If so, you're going to love this project!
This in-table herb pot is affordable and oh so simple. It's a great way to get the kids excited about gardening and eating!
DIY Dining Table Herb Garden
You'll need:
- Outdoor table with removable 12" tiles
- Square plastic 12" pot (I found mine at Home Depot for $6)
- Herbs and edible flowers
- Potting soil
How to:
1. First you'll want to plant your pot. I chose not to add a drainage hole because I am horrible at remembering to water and no drainage works better for me. Simply fill the pot with soil and tuck in a bunch of herbs, little hands are great for this!
2. Once you're done planting it's time to install the pot! Simply remove the center tile and nestle the pot in it's place.
3. Now you're ready to add beauty and zest to every outdoor meal!
I love projects that give big impact for little money and effort. If you've got an older wooden outdoor table you might be able to add an herb pot by cutting a hole in the top that is slightly smaller that your vessel. Not interested in trying to keep herbs alive? Succulents would look fab and they are dead simple to care for.
I've been loving summer so hard, I am not ready for it to be coming to a close so soon. I'm doing my best to soak up relaxed dinners outside, unrushed bedtimes, and late lazy mornings. I'm trying hard to not let the stress of adulting overshadow the magic of summer. Dinners outside with my giggly crew certainly make it easier.
Here's to simple summer pleasures, wishing you and yours a little al fresco fun.
