For those of you who follow me on social media this isn't exactly "news" but I started a podcast with my best friend! We are both addicted to listening to them and decided to add our two cents to the ever expanding new fangled "air waves". So this post is one part shameless plug (we are one of the ten listed) and one part excuse to share my favorite podcasts and hopefully get you hooked! Seriously, podcasts make chores so much better! I listen to tons of them, but these are the ones that I absolutely never miss an episode. And I'm keeping the list to women because I love me some girl power. I could listen to Roman Mars read the phonebook and Tim Ferris has taught me a thing or two, but in my totally biased opinion, it's the ladies who are dominating this new media like a bunch of bosses. These podcasts are helpful, funny, or both, and I know you're going to like them too!
Happier - I have learned more from this podcast than any other. Gretchen and her sister Elizabeth help us all be a little happier with tips and tricks that you haven't heard before. I never feel as though listening to this podcast is a waste of time, I always end up feeling introspective and inspired.
One Bad Mother - As a mom it's really nice to feel understood. Biz and Theresa "get" motherhood. They are funny, supportive, and totally judgement free. If you are a mom or wonder what it's really like to be one, this podcast is not to be missed.
Who Are We Kidding? - Two best friends with very different lives and similar senses of humor talk about what it's like to be a grown-ass lady. Okay, so it's super hard to write about your own project. If you ever wanted to know what I sound like or how I feel about raising kids, keeping friends, or snacking, it's worth a listen.
The Longest Shortest Time - Hillary Frank has created the parenting podcast for everyone. This is the podcast that started my obsession and it's all Meg's fault. She turned me on to it and we've both listened to every single one. I dare you to listen without getting hooked.
Women of the Hour - Lena Dunham has created a beautiful platform from which women can share their stories. The shows are moving, funny, and informative.
2 Dope Queens - I dare you to listen to Phoebe and Jessica without cracking up. This comedy show is always sure to put me a better mood.
Another Round - This podcast is an excellent blend of humor and social commentary. Tracy and Heben are young black women who are both totally hilarious and inspiringly brave. They share their struggles with discrimination, anxiety, and more, all while making you laugh and feel inspired to do more to make the world a better place.
Call Your Girlfriend - Long distance besties Aminatou and Ann talk current events and modern female struggles. At times listening can feel a bit like eavesdropping, and I don't always agree with them, but I always look forward to what they have to say.
Magic Lessons - I'll be totally honest, sometimes Elizabeth Gilbert bugs me, or maybe it's just that I'm super jealous of her cool friends. Either way this podcast is a must listen for creatives, so much insight and inspiration.
Spawned - Kristen and Liz, the ladies of Cool Mom Picks share their parenting wisdom and mishaps and interview interesting people who will help you be a better mom. I love that they don't take themselves too seriously making this podcast helpful, but also fun.
What do you think? Did I miss your favorite? I'm always looking for more to listen to so please share your favorites with me!!
