Free Sewing Patterns! Baby Leggings and Shorts

Update: How to add a waistband to this free pattern two ways!

Okay remember when I promised a free pattern for the micro shorts? Well I finally got around to it, but since it's no longer shorts weather in the northern hemisphere, I decided to make a pattern that can be shorts or leggings!  (In case you're wondering, this is were all of my Kids Clothes Week energy went!)

These simple baby pants are the trendy (and super comfy) harem or drop crotch style.  I love that they have room for cloth diapers and are just so darn cute!  They are also totally unisex!  This pattern is just right for my rather large 6 month old (he wears at least a 9 month size in RTW).  Since they are stretchy and super easy to make longer or shorter I'm calling this a 6-12 month pattern.

Every once in a while the stars align and my camera captures all the sweetness that is this precious baby boy. Each time I look at this shot my heart aches with joy.  I am so very lucky to be this angel's mama.

I can't believe I forgot to tell you gals (and guys), but I am a contributor over on Kids Activities Blog!  I've been writing twelve (yes 12!) posts a month. I thought I would share some of my favorites with you here once a month.  And since it's almost Halloween here are three spooktacular crafts!

Mini Haunted Houses - Cheap, easy, cute, and best of all fun - this is my kind of craft!   

Little Ghost No-Sew Finger Puppets - I adore the ghost faces Jude drew and I've included cute little rhymes for finger play fun!

Ping Pong Ball Monsters - I can't tell you how much I love these little monsters.  And like all my favorite kid crafts, you get a toy out of the deal!

DIY Dog Costumes

I had the pleasure of working with the DIY Network to create tutorials for four awesome handmade Halloween costumes for dogs.  My parent's fabulous pugs acted as my muses and models.  I love how they turned out, but I've got to say getting these final shots was a serious workout!  I am so impressed with dog photographers (this one is my favorite) it's WAY harder than capturing kids!  From no-sew to a tad elaborate, there's a doggy costume for every crafter and every pup!  The instructions also make it easy to create these for any size dog, so while owning a pug is awesome, it's not a requirement!

The most complicated, but also the coolest, these bat wings make for a spooktacular costume.  I think Petunia here looks like a gargoyle or Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon.  Full Tutorial for Bat Dog Costume.

No sewing required!  This super simple monster costume is also super cute.  With just a few simple, cheap materials (and maybe half an hour, max) you can create your own pet monster.  Full Tutorial for No-Sew Monster Dog Costume.

This ladybug costume is a great project for a beginning sewist. Fleece and felt transform into a lucky little ladybug in just a few simple steps.  Full Tutorial for Ladybug Costume for Dogs.

Flower power! Encircle your pup in petals for the sweetest costume this Halloween.  My step by step instructions make this floral disguise totally doable. If you have an especially agreeable cat, they would look smashing as a flower as well!  Full Tutorial for Flower Costume for Pets.

Do you dress up your pets for Halloween?  My family once had a pug named Bruno who lived for a costume, Halloween was his favorite day of the year!  RIP Beantown, I sure miss you, especially when I need pictures of a dressed-up doggie!
