Alright, it's been WAY too long since I've participated in kids clothes week! I'm so thrilled to be joining in this time around. You see, I don't really have time but then again, I NEVER have time - so I'm making time which is what the challenge is all about right?! And I've already got one thing to share! But just a quick post, I can't spend precious sewing time at the computer!
This summer, despite the heat, I've been having trouble getting Jude to wear shorts. He has gotten quite particular and clothing items must be comfy, but most importantly cool. I picked his brain for what makes shorts "cool" and along with being long enough, he suggested a color: hot pink! I couldn't say no to that, especially since I had seen some pretty rad hot pink fabric on clearance at Joanns!
I used the KID Shorts pattern by Dana. I always love how her patterns fit and come together so easily. This is the flat front version of a size 6 with no modifications, they fit just right and are a great length. To up the comfy factor and give them a better weight I lined them in knit (I used an old black t-shirt).
Want to know my lazy gal version of "lining"? I cut the pattern from both fabrics. I then used basting spray to stick the two layers together, wrong sides facing. I then sewed the whole thing as is if each piece was just one layer. I used my serger for all seams except the waistband and hems.
I am very pleased with how these came out and they have been deemed cool enough by Mr. Fashion so it's a win on all accounts! I've got another pair with pockets on the cutting table, yay for kids clothes week!
