I can't get enough of these little booties. I first wrote about them here. And I have since taken that inspirational pattern and changed it quite a bit. I made this pair as part of Ronan's going home outfit.
You can find the original pattern here. I discovered that the original pattern knit up a little too small and I wanted to add cute buttons, so I've come up with my own version. These booties are what I would call 0-3 months size although they have such a nice amount of stretch depending on the baby, they could fit for longer. The finished sole measures about 3 1/2" by 2". Don't want to add buttons? Simply skip the button hole steps!
Bitty Baby Booties
You'll Need:
- Worsted weight yarn
- Size 8 needles
- Tapestry needle
- 3/4" buttons
Pattern:
Cast on 32 stitches
Knit 2 rows
Button Hole For the Right: Knit 6, yo, k2tog, knit until the end of the row
Button Hole For the Left: Knit 24, yo, k2tog, knit final 6
Knit 9 more rows (12 total)
Bind off 12 stitches and knit to the end of the row
Bind off 12 stitches and knit remaining 8 stitches
Continue knitting 8 stitches for 24 rows
Bind off
Sew together according to diagram (click to enlarge). Using one long piece of yarn, first sew A sides together, then sew all three layers at the toe (B), last sew up sides C. Weave in ends and turn your work right side out.
Sew on 3/4" button
