I have never tried adopting a word for the new year; as a matter of fact, I usually avoid making any resolutions at all. For the past two years, I have gone with mottos (2011, 2012), and they have served me well. Yet there is something that appeals to me about the simplicity of a guiding word; so this year, I'm going to give it a go. The word I hope to channel in 2013 is FOCUS.
I have felt so scattered lately, so focus feels almost necessary. I want to focus on what I'm good at. I want to focus on the people and things that are most important to me. I want to focus on one thing at a time. I want to focus on my own voice and intuition. I want to focus on what makes me happy.
And I want to focus on this blog. Like many bloggers, I'm tempted to promise vast improvements overnight. This is not a possibility for me at this time in my life, but I can promise you more focus. More focus on the topics you care most about. More focus on quality writing and photography. And more focus on you, dear reader. I hope you'll join me on the quest to hone in on my best and let go of the rest.
Have you got a word, motto, or resolution this year? I wish you the best of luck with it. And a very Happy New Year!
Here's to 2013, I've got a good feeling about this one.
P.S. - I started a new pinterest board with lots of inspiration for a great new year. If you're a sucker for a great quote like me, I think you'll dig it.
