Update: Free Tutorial and Pattern can be found here!
This might be the coolest handmade gift I've ever made. My sister is a shark loving, marine science major, so when I saw this on pinterest I got pretty excited. But why buy mass market when you can create with your own hands?
The whole bag, from pattern draft to picture taking, happened in a single afternoon. Can you tell I'm a bit proud of myself? The thing is, I've discovered the learning curve in sewing is fairly sharp, and I love that as I become a better sewist the possibilities of what I can create have widen considerably. I still have a lot to learn, but there has been less cursing, fewer ripped seams, and overall a more pleasant vibe in my "studio" lately.
This bag is a product of that good vibe, which is why it makes me particularly happy. And the very best part? She loves it!
Here's to handmade gifts!
P.S. - I saved my pattern pieces and I could be talked into a tutorial if I get enough interest. Let me know if you'd like to make your own.
