If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Line of Marapytta should be very, very flattered. When I saw this pop up in pinterest, I gasped! I knew that I had animal print left over in my stash from this, and I couldn't get it out of my mind. I was so taken with the sweatshirt she made, I set out to copy it as best I could. And well, my best wasn't exactly perfect.
I self-drafted the pattern. Even though I was cautious to not make the sleeves too narrow, they ended up looking a little tight. I couldn't talk Jude into trying it on, and I ended up lying in bed at 2 am thinking up ways to widen the sleeves without starting over. This morning I begged him to try it on, only to discover that I couldn't get it over his head.
The GD sweatshirt material I bought had almost zero stretch! After hitting my head against the wall in frustration, I decided I would not give up. I am many things but rarely a quitter, so I added a "decorative" zipper and decided the sleeves where acceptably "slim-fit". It was a serious "make it work" moment, and while I wish it fit a little better, it's soft and cozy, so I'm glad I didn't just scrap it.
Again, if you'd like to see this sweatshirt done perfectly, I encourage you to visit Marapytta.
