I recently painted my living room (Martha Stewart Sharkey Gray), and I just didn't have the heart to put the ugly, cheap, glaringly white switch plate back up. I also lacked the energy to go back to Home Depot. Then I realized the solution was in my garage: old books and mod podge.
I chose a page from City, a book both my husband and I like (there are not many, we read very different books). It took no time; once the sheet was glued down, I used an exacto knife to cut x's in the holes where the switches stick through, folded back the flaps, added a few more layers of glue, and viola! Free and easy, my kind of project.
Oh, and for the record, if you complain to the entire internet about the weather, you get the heat wave you had given up on. It was 90 yesterday.
Here's to sunny days and simple projects!
