When your house is less than 1000 square feet, carving out space for each family member can be a challenge. It was important to me that Jude have his own "studio": a space that would encourage creativity through accessible supplies, child-sized furniture, and artistic display.
After choosing a corner in our living room, the next step was a trip to good old IKEA.
A hanging basket holds colored pencils, markers, and crayons, all within arms reach, and a painted spice rack serves as paper storage.
A magnet strip makes it easy to display his latest creations, and framed pieces lend a gallery feel.
Of course an artist needs great light, I went with an elegant silver dipped bulb. I chose to keep the set-up simple, with the intention of regularly rotating different supplies. One thing I love is that his "studio" is right across the room from my "office"...
It's so much fun watch him work ...
